"I really liked this book. First of all, is has some of my favorite things in it. It's a fantasy book about dragons! But there are a lot of other elements within it that I really appreciate. I love Amel. She is a great character. Despite her disabilities, she is strong and courageous. And don't get me started on Raolcan. I'm just one book in and I already love him! All of his snarky remarks and his quick way of taking Amel under his wing, no pun intended. He's sweet while being ferocious and I just love that about him. There are a lot of great characters in this book. And a lot of not so great characters. Not that they weren't written well, just the opposite in fact. I just wish the others would treat Amel better, but I know this will just make her stronger and more eager to prove herself. I like the idea of there being a school where you can learn to ride and take care of dragons. That sounds like a great place to be. It will be exciting to watch Amel go through her training and become a Dragon Rider, showing everyone that her disabilities don't stop her from being good at something. Overall, the characters, the setting, the message, and the plot are all fun and exciting. I can't wait to see how each of them grow." -Annaliese (14)
